For those expecting Apple’s voice recognition program to answer iPhone 4S, well…
While Siri may not be a Windows 7 fan boy, as it turns out no-one at Apple or the development studio that made the app thought about putting in a filter on some search results, i.e. “best smart phone ever”.
It highlights the problems with relying on outside sources, since Siri pulled its answer from Wolfram Alpha, and the data was based on old Best Buy customer product reviews. Obviously not a scientific answer, considering the phone beat out Apple devices (and Android devices, etc) on just a few user reviews.
I imagine Apple will roll out a fix or a block for this. Some who have tried this reported different results and most phones when asked what a ‘Nokia’ is don’t seem to have an answer so it may not be necessary. Still, as any good marketing person will tell you it’s important to have everybody onside and that includes ‘virtual people’ like Siri.
But this whole situation really makes me wonder…what other gems are lurking just below the surface? What other ridiculous answers does Siri have in store for an unsuspecting iPhone owner? Hopefully they’re found (and photographed) before they’re filtered out!
Update: It’s been fixed.
