It’s here! It’s here! The iPhone5 is here! Woo hoo! The LONG AWAITED IPHONE FI–

Oh.

That’s right, Apple’s big conference yesterday revealed a brand new iPhone… 4.

But don’t despair, because the iPhone 4S comes packing a really neat new feature called Siri. Apple put out a video that gives you an idea of how it works.

Now, I’m a Blackberry guy. I admit I haven’t been a long-time owner. I’ve only owned a Blackberry for less than a year, but my 9800 Torch has been pretty good to me as a first smart phone.

But this new iPhone looks really really cool. I love tech like this, and the voice command computer looks really slick! If it can reliably do what the video shows it doing, I may very well convert to the Apple brand!

I will say, and I tweeted this last night, the greatest tragedy with all of this is that Majel Barrett-Rodenberry didn’t live long enough to provide the voice for Siri.  At the very least, I hope I can get the computer sound effect from Star Trek for the activation noise. Maybe it’ll even tell me to be quiet sometimes!

It’s happened. I’ve been bitten by the Apple bug. I’m not sure if I’ll get over this right away or not. I’m a careful man. I’ll wait for actual floor models to hit the streets. Perhaps Phil will try and rescue me first with a barrage of secure, encrypted text messages that I can reply to using either a touch screen OR a keyboard. Who knows?

The new iPhone 4S is available in Canada on the 14th of October, but you’ll be able to pre-order one as early as Friday.
